Something bugged me about the old GW War Hydras. They looked like little Wiener dogs with short legs and skinny body. I wanted something that actually looked like the stats it has. So I gathered some bitz I had and mail ordered some more. Above you can see parts from a Black Dragon, the 5th ed Special Character Dragon, a complete 6th ed War Hydra and the body from a Stegadon. This and a ton of green stuff would create my new hydra. I guess this would be a Royal War Hydra, a pretty rare sight on the battle field. That took A LOT of pinning. My fingers were bleeding. I was a bit worried about the to right plastic head, it's the regular dragon head. It looked a bit big but I figured I would thicken the neck a bit with green stuff to make it look more proportionate. He is only attached to the base with his back legs through wood. But seem to hold up well. The mini weights a ton now. It's pretty much sold pewter. Quick jump to the painted Hydra. I added some chains around the necks and front legs and had one of the apprentices hold on to a big bunch of chains. I love it how the apprentices look like ants next to the hydra. ok here's a size comparison with the GW 6th ed War Hydra. GWs is to the left. Quite some difference, huh?
